eConsult is the default way of accessing our services. Please contact us using this as it helps us provide a responsive service to everyone. You can access it via our website, or via the NHS App on your phone. If you do not have internet access you can call the surgery and reception will fill an eConsult-lite on your behalf. Please avoid calling if you can use eConsult as it helps us keep the lines free for vulnerable patients, emergencies, or those without internet access.
eConsult lets you consult with us online by completing a quick form that is sent and reviewed by the practice. It is easy and safe. It can also direct the you to self-help, pharmacy advice and local self-referral services.
Your eConsult or eConsult-lite will be triaged and signposted based on clinical need. You will receive and acknowledgement by the end of the next working day (or within 72 hours for administrative queries) This acknowledgment will include either details advising of your appointment date and time, response to your query or follow up steps
Nurses and Healthcare Assistants:
Our nursing team are fully operational and seeing patients who require to been seen in the practice, please call the surgery if you need to book an appointment with them.
Doctor’s appointments are allocated based on clinical need after either an eConsult or an eConsult-lite has been received.
The practice may contact you via text, video call, and email as well as see you face to face when needed
We recognise that illnesses are not predictable and so there are urgent appointments available each day. All emergencies are dealt with by the Doctor on duty for emergencies. The Doctor will assess each case individually and recommend the most appropriate action. Please call the surgery as early as possible to make an appointment.
We offer extended hours appointments to provide routine access for patient who find it difficult to attend during normal surgery hours.
There are remote (telephone) routine or GP only pre-bookable and Practice Nurse appointments for early mornings (07:00 – 08:00) and for evenings (18:30 – 19:30) on some Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
If you require one of these appointments please add a comment to your eConsult to request a time during extended hours.
Please note that there is no access to the surgery for routine queries, either by telephone or in person, during these extended hours. We regret therefore that we will be unable to offer services such as appointment booking, prescription collection or test results at these times.
Medication and Health Reviews | If you require a medication review, or another review such as asthma, COPD, diabetes, please complete the relevant eConsult template. |
Immunisations | Childhood vaccinations have continued as normal. Please attend when invited. |
Cervical Screening | The smear programme continues as usual. If you are due one please contact reception to book your appointment. |
ECG | Our nurses perform ECGs when a clinician deems them necessary. |
B12 Injections | We have advised all patients to switch to oral tablets where possible. If you feel this does not manage your symptoms we will make appointments for the injections if essential. Please contact reception to book your appointment. |
Joint Injections | Steroid joint injections are being at the surgery either by our MSK specialist or one of our doctors. Please complete an eConsult. |
Contraception | We offer appointments for contraceptive implants, coils and injections. Please complete an eConsult |
Dressings | We are advising patients to self-care where possible. An appointment can be booked if required once triaged by a nurse. |
Antenatal Appointments | You can still book an appointment to see the Midwife. Please contact reception to arrange or liaise with your Midwife. |
Travel Vaccinations | This service is currently suspended due to COVID 19. |
Referrals | We continue to refer patients wherever necessary. Please be advised there may be a delay in routine referrals at some hospitals due to COVID 19. |
Blood Tests | We only offer blood tests at the practice to patients over the age of 70 and to those in the high risk of Covid (ex-shielding). All other patients will be directed to the phlebotomy services at Hemel Hospital . You will need to take a blood test form along to your appointment. The forms can be sent to you electronically if you have means of printing them yourself or you can come and collect them from reception. |
